Traffic rules: Sri Lanka
- Left-hand traffic – right-hand drive vehicles, overtaking on the right.
- Speed limits: 50 km/h in urban areas, 70 km/h on rural roads, and 100 km/h on expressways.
- The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.06%.
- Seat belts are mandatory for the driver and front passenger; on expressways, they are mandatory for all occupants.
- Mobile phones may only be used with a hands-free system.
- Winter tires are not required due to the tropical climate.
- There are no vignettes. Expressways are tolled, with relatively low toll fees payable in cash (LKR) when exiting.

Do I need an International Driving Permit to rent a car in Sri Lanka?

What is the minimum age to rent a car?
