Traffic rules: Slovenia
- Right-hand traffic and standard European road rules.
- Speed limits: 50 km/h in urban areas, 90 km/h on rural roads, 110 km/h on expressways, and 130 km/h on motorways.
- Low-beam headlights must be switched on at all times, including during the day.
- The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.05%; for drivers under 21 years old and those with less than two years of driving experience, the limit is 0.00%.
- Seat belts are mandatory for all occupants. Children under 150 cm in height must use an appropriate child restraint system.
- Mobile phones may only be used with a hands-free system. The fine is €120.
- A motorway vignette is mandatory for driving on motorways and expressways. Since 2022, only the digital e-vignette is valid and is linked to the vehicle registration number. A weekly vignette costs about €20, while driving without one may result in a fine of €300–800.
- Every vehicle must carry a warning triangle, first-aid kit, and reflective safety vest. The vest must be worn when leaving the vehicle on the road.
- Radar detectors are prohibited.
- From November 15 to March 15, winter tires (minimum tread depth of 3 mm) are mandatory, or snow chains must be carried when driving on mountain routes.
