Traffic rules: Bali
- Left-hand traffic, right-hand drive vehicles, and overtaking is done on the right.
- Speed limits: 50 km/h in urban areas, 80 km/h on rural roads, and up to 100 km/h on the Bali Mandara toll road.
- Zero alcohol tolerance: driving under the influence of alcohol is prohibited.
- Seat belts are mandatory for the driver and passengers; children under 5 years old must use a child seat.
- Mobile phones may only be used with a hands-free system.
- No vignette is required. The Bali Mandara toll road is paid electronically using an e-toll card.
- Winter tires are not required due to the tropical climate. The main seasonal hazard is heavy rain and flooding during the rainy season (approximately November to March).
- Speeding and traffic violations are monitored by the ETLE camera system (Denpasar, Kuta, Seminyak, Canggu, and Ubud). Camera fines are issued to the vehicle owner and passed on to the renter.
- Roads are narrow and winding, with many scooters filtering through traffic. Keep a safe distance and stay alert.
